Bézenac : Histoire et Chroniques d'un Village
in all bookshops
Bézenac is a tiny town of 130 inhabitants. And yet it is full of reminders of the past. Through this book you will discover the evolution over the centuries in a society highly folded in on itself, the difficulties of a poor parish, but also the unique heritage in its diversity which boasts Bézenac. The town has a Magdalenian site, two castles, a monastery, a twelfth-century church and many dry stone huts. The book invites you to dive into the past in the heart of a land that has remained very rural.
Anne Bécheau is a medievalist by training, and today a public writer. She was born in Bézenac and, despite several years of working far from the region, she has remained very attached to her Perigord roots. Her professional job involves collecting testimonies of individuals, searching and inquiring to publish books on villages and local areas. She is the author Vitrac en Sarladais (2008), and Cénac et Domme (2009) and St. Vincent de Cosse (2010). With passion she immersed herself in the history of her hometown, after her great-uncle, Louis Carvès.

Cénac et Domme : Histoire et Chroniques d'un Terroir
in all bookshops
"Land of enchantment", "sacred place", etc., descriptions never fail to describe the Black Périgord located between the valley of the Dordogne and Quercy. A mixture of bitterness and soft smile, graceful lines and rocky outcrops. The landscapes offered by Cénac and Domme have probably shaped the character of its inhabitants. A touch of violence combined to a desire for war, beauty and harmony: the people of this country have fought for their identity and for their heritage.
Through these pages decorated with numerous photographs and unpublished works of the Cenac painter Lucien Maleville, the author invites you to return to the past to better understand our environment, but also the men who live there.
